Danscott Studio has been teaching Calgary children to dance for over forty years. Our Mini Movers classes are built for three and four year olds, in a room made for them, with a teacher who kneels down to say hello. Bring your child, try a whole class, decide nothing.

What 45 minutes looks like for a three year old
Minutes 0 to 5
You arrive, hang up a coat, and settle in. Nobody rushes you. Your child can watch from your knee for as long as they need to.
Minutes 5 to 15
Circle time on the floor. Names, a hello song, and a teacher sitting down at their eye level. Most children join in here without noticing they have.
Minutes 15 to 35
Skipping, galloping, scarves, music, and a few ballet shapes with silly names. It looks like play. It is teaching.
Minutes 35 to 45
A calm finish, a sticker, and a door you walk back out of with a three year old who wants to know when they can come again.

Their very first dance class, in a room built for them. Forty five minutes, a maximum of 12 children, one teacher and one assistant. No experience needed.

The worries every parent has before the first class
- What if my child cries?
- Then they cry, and it is fine. It happens most weeks in a room of three year olds. We do not remove them, we do not make it a moment. They watch, they settle, they join in when they are ready. Almost always the same day.
- My child has never danced. Are they behind?
- There is nothing to be behind. No child arrives knowing anything. The class is designed for a first ever dance class, because that is what it is for everyone in the room.
- My child will not stand still for 45 minutes
- Nobody expects them to. The class moves every few minutes for exactly that reason. Wandering off is normal. We just gently bring them back.
- Can I stay and watch?
- Parents are welcome to view the last 10 minutes of class through our viewing area.
- Is this a competitive studio that will push my child?
- There is a competitive team, and they never have to go near it. Most of our students dance purely because they like it, for years.
